  • National Down Syndrome Awareness Month

    October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. In observance of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the following activities will be conducted in our life skills and PPCD classrooms during this week.  We encourage all campuses to join in the activities to celebrate our students. Together we will celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

  • DHS Theater Dept.
    Several students from our very own DHS Theater Dept. attended a speech tournament at PSJA South West HS this Saturday. On average, there can be 50 competitors registered in each category. Here is a list of students from DHS, who were fortunate to advance into the finals and place amongst the top. 
    Brian Villarreal: 1st place / Humorous 
                            3rd place / Duet Improv
                            6th place / Duet Acting
                            9th place / Prose
    Graciela Zamora: 3rd place / Duet Improv
                                6th Place / Duet Acting
    Edna Hernandez: 5th place / Poetry
    It is truly amazing to see our students excel and represent our community.  Donna, is a fountain of talent. 

  • DHS Bullying Contest

    The winners of the DHS Bullying contest are:

     The two winning entries have been submitted to the Intake office for further judging at the district level.

    Congratulations to all the students that submitted entries and participated.

  • ACT Test Prep Seminar
    DHS will be holding an ACT Test Prep Seminar on Thursday, October 15, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Simon Sauceda Fine Arts Auditorium.  Registration is $29 and includes the session itself, along with 2 ACT Test prep books.  Please encourage all your juniors and seniors to attend, especially if they will be taking the ACT exam in October or the near future.  
    Payment can be made in cash at the Go Center or online at

  • Yearbooks on Sale

    Yearbooks have been on sale since the start of the school year.  If you would like to purchase a copy, make sure to follow the link at our website.  We will be placing some posters on the LRC to remind you.
    Price of the book is $50, but if your order before the end of the month, there is a 15% discount.
